Our Operating Model
Our Learning Principles
The design of our programs are based on simple and profound principles from overlapping fields including Action Learning, Action Research, Adult Learning & Development, Appreciative Inquiry and Professional Coaching.
These principles include:
We learn best when learning is related and applied to doing and achieving something that matters to us. People learn best from what they are doing.
Lasting, transformational learning & change occurs through repeated cycles of absorbing limited new ‘knowledge’ relevant to our concerns, action and reflection. Reflection is a necessary precursor to effective action.
The social process is at least as important as new knowledge in influencing how effective our learning and action is. Individuals learn with and from each other by working on their own particular situations and reflecting on their experience together.
As self-organising, self-determining biological and social systems, human beings move in the direction of the positive images and intentions we hold.
The most powerful capacity development is strengths-based: helping people connect to their own resourcefulness and then extending it.
Ontology
The approach of Oasis People and Culture is derived from a discipline known as the Ontology of the Human Observer. This field has its roots in psychology, philosophy and biology, harnessing powerful insights that can transform team culture and an individual’s engagement, alignment and contribution. We like to think of ourselves as business psychologists.
Our Guiding Themes
Three themes guide the work we do. All are important at one time or another in organisational life. In all three, our vision is to see life-giving leadership emerge:
Personal productivity, values, emotional intelligence, awareness
LEADING OTHERS
Dealing with conflict, collaboration, coaching approach to leadership, developing leaders.
LEADING ORGANISATIONS
Building culture, implementing vision strategy and values, creating learning organisations.
How can we work with you?
Partnering, Projects and Programs
We work with organisations in different ways depending on their learning and operational needs.
Programs – We deliver a set program of work. For example 8 mid-level leaders joining together regularly over 8 months for a leadership development program including monthly workshops and some regular individual coaching sessions.
Projects – We map out a pathway of multi-faceted work which might include a mix of different programs for different levels, some coaching for other individuals, and potentially some different timing and stages in the project. This is typically co-designed with you.
Partnering – We commit to one another on a journey of learning together. We become something of your trusted advisor and people partner in your business. We are sometimes embedded as part of the fabric of our client’s businesses. This can be a cost-effective alternative to employing people to deliver your organisational or people development strategy.
